The Renal and Transplantation Pathology group (PRYT [Patología Renal y de Trasplantes]) is a research group supported by University of Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia, and recognized by COLCIENCIAS (Colombia) from November 2006 as a category B group.

The aims of the group are focused on glomerulopathies in native kidneys in Hispanics and pathology of solid organ transplantation. Our projects are centered on histopathology and molecular pathology.

We hope to be a reference centre for investigation in renal pathology and transplantation pathology in Colombia.

Current investigation projects
• Epidemiology of renal disease in a Hispanic population from Colombia: a review of regional renal biopsy database.
• Histologic assessment of donor kidneys and graft outcome: multivariate analyses.
• Renal cell carcinomas with granular cells, immunohistochemical profile and differential diagnosis.
• Glomerular tip lesion: A study of clinical outcome and comparison to focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in Hispanic patients.
• Renal toxicity by anticalcineurinics: a new analysis for an ancient problem.
• Immunopathologic evidence of humoral response in cardiac allografts and its importance in graft outcome.
• BK virus infection in renal allografts: a study in hispanic receptors.
• Focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis in Hispanics.
• Focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis in children.

Group director: Luis F. Arias, MD, PhD.
